Hannah Krall is a musicologist interested in early music and jazz improvisation, traditional jazz, and music for the viola da gamba. She has a BA in Music from Cornell University (magna cum laude) and a MA and PhD in musicology from Duke University. Her research explores the Creole of Color clarinet tradition in New Orleans and its impact on jazz clarinet playing and the Duke Ellington Orchestra. She also serves as a full-time instructor at Shaw University, a Historically Black College/University in Raleigh, NC.
